The Rise of Reality Suite

Formed in North Haledon, New Jersey, by childhood friends Brian King (drums), Joe Padula (guitars), and Antonio Valenti (bass), Reality Suite emerged with one mission: to create heavy, melodic rock with meaning. Their defining moment came in 2013 with the arrival of powerhouse vocalist Kimmii Heart, who brought both charisma and vocal firepower to the group.

Early releases built momentum in the New Jersey scene, but it was their self-produced debut full-length Skinn (2015) that announced Reality Suite to the global rock community. MPire Magazine praised it as “a damned near perfect piece of rock, one that incorporates the old and new in the right balance.”

Critical Breakthrough with Awaken

After years of sharpening their sound, Reality Suite released the Awaken EP (2018), which exceeded expectations and drew attention from European record labels. Danish record label Lions Pride Music signed the band, leading to the expanded Awaken (Deluxe) in 2019.

Produced by Mike Ferretti (Sevendust, Saliva) and Earl Cohen (Lady Gaga, Pink), the record delivered polished yet raw modern hard rock. Songs like Kiss the Ring," “Grave” and “Cut, Burn, Bruise” carried deeply personal weight. Brian King revealed in an interview with PopBreak.com:

“During the writing for what became Awaken, we realized most of what we were writing lyrics about was losing loved ones. I lost my mother in 2016 to lung cancer – which spawned ‘Cut, Burn, Bruise.’ Kimmii lost a close family friend which inspired ‘Grave.’ Antonio lost his mother and Joe had lost an Aunt in 2017. As much as those songs are about missing loved ones, the album as a whole is about recovery and rebirth.”

Critics echoed the sentiment. Metal Temple hailed the album as “a masterly mix of melodies, riffs, drumming and a really wonderful voice, together with a pristine production,” while Stereo Stickman declared:

“It feels like an instant classic. They’ve brought back the things we loved the most about early 2000’s rock and fused it effectively with this fresh and always addictive Reality Suite sound.”

Global Recognition and Chart Success

Reality Suite quickly found international audiences. Their singles climbed global iTunes and Apple Music charts:

Triggers (2021) hit #7 on iTunes New Zealand Rock Chart and #79 on the All Genres Chart.

Cut, Burn, Bruise (Remix) ranked #6 on iTunes New Zealand Rock Chart and #66 on the All Genres Chart.

Their cover of Bullet with Butterfly Wings reached #109 on Apple Music Paraguay Rock Chart.

Earlier hits Kiss the Ring and Wingman both broke into Portugal’s top 5 Rock Chart in 2020.

In November 2021, Reality Suite ranked among the top 100K “Rock, Punk & Metal” artists worldwide.

Resilience Through the Pandemic

When touring halted in 2020, Reality Suite remained committed to their fanbase. They released Live at Alpha Wave Studios, initially as a digital-only project, but later produced 75 signed-and-numbered CD bundles with set lists, guitar picks, and facemasks – a gesture that deepened their bond with fans.

The single Triggers followed in early 2021, their first new music since Awaken. Two-time Grammy-nominated engineer Mike Ferretti returned to mix the track, which earned international chart placements and critical buzz. Later that year, the band reissued Awaken on vinyl via their independent imprint, 4K Deep Records, including the new single Triggers as a bonus track.

Evolving the Sound

The years that followed saw Reality Suite pushing boundaries. In 2022, they released Sleep with Ghosts – praised by WRAT 95.9FM’s Tom Hanley as “haunting” and showcasing the band’s versatility – followed by Closure, which reimagined fan-favorite tracks in acoustic form.

By this time, Reality Suite had earned respect not only for their music but also for their independence. Bob Makin, veteran columnist at The Aquarian Weekly, remarked:

“In 42 years of covering the New Jersey music scene, I’ve never seen an independent band market themselves as well as Reality Suite.”

A New Era: Jeff Luke Joins

In 2023, co-founder and bassist Antonio Valenti retired from the band, closing a defining chapter of Reality Suite’s history. His departure marked a transition, but also an opportunity for renewal. Enter Jeff Luke, whose dynamic playing and onstage energy brought fresh fire to the band’s rhythm section.

The revitalized lineup wasted no time unleashing a new era of music with singles “Holy Grail,” “Insane,” “These Fears,” “Hollywood,” and “Legendary.” Each track underscores their signature formula: soaring, anthemic vocals from Kimmii Heart, intricate yet heavy instrumentation from Padula, Luke, and King, and lyrics that balance vulnerability with defiance.

Critical Acclaim & The Future

Reality Suite’s evolution has never dulled their impact. FemMetal hailed their video for “Grave” as an act of defiance:
